Sponsored by the Interfaith Hunger Initiative, The Worship Studio, and community partners, a special event will be held on Sunday Sept 11th to mark this solemn 10th anniversary with interfaith prayers, community art, and by coming together to make a difference for hungry people. The event will be held at Gleaners Food Bank, 3737 Waldemere, Indpls.

Gathering time will begin at 2:30, with an interfaith prayer service at 3:00. Opportunities to participate in a community art experience and work together in Gleaners will immediately follow the prayer service.

Celebrating Earth Day on Good Friday

Good Friday is the traditional remembrance of the suffering of Jesus Christ leading up to his death on the cross. The Worship studio explores the intersection of the sufferings of Christ with the sufferings of creation and our particpation in that suffering. We will explore our betrayal of creation and broken relationship with God and the world around us through experiencing interactive worship stations. This experimental worship will engage us in dialogue between the ecological health of our community and opportunities for redemption.

The Worship Studio joins Christian Theological Seminary and the Peace Learning Center in celebrating the legacy and of a man and movement that have brought about transformation through non-violent action. Open to people of all faiths, The Worship Studio’s Saturday, January 15th worship experience will be held from 2 – 2:30 pm at Christian Theological Seminary’s Sweeney Chapel as part of the 11 am – 3 pm annual “Our Beloved Community Multigenerational Festival” at CTS. Local musicians, poets and other worship artists lead participants in celebrating hope and honoring legacies of justice from across the globe and across the years. What is possible in a post-9/11 world?

In this opportunity to refuse a day of Quran-burning, a new community called The Worship Studio invites the public to take on the question of what better responses to 9/11 are possible. Open to people of all faiths, this Saturday, September 11^th event will be held at Earth House Collective/Lockerbie Central United Methodist Church in downtown Indianapolis. Honoring the sacred potential of diverse people sharing a community together, local musicians and other artists will lead the public in remembering the significant traumas of the September 11^th date and in celebrating local partnerships which have responded to acts terror with acts of interfaith community-building and hope.

Informational displays open at 6:30 pm in the Earth House café at 237 N. East St., Indianapolis 46204. The event begins at 7 pm upstairs in the Lockerbie-Central United Methodist sanctuary and will conclude at 7:50 pm for a post-event conversation with John Clark, director of the Cold Spring Institute and creator of the online magazine Provocate, to discuss local interfaith community building opportunities and the possibilities for our post-9/11 city.
